[Lecturer]
Hirohiko Nakamura, Chief Department Manager, Advanced Technology Center, Mitsubishi Research Institute, Inc.
[Key Lecture Content]
Physical AI refers to systems that incorporate artificial intelligence into robots and machines, enabling them to perceive, reason, and act in the real world, and it has garnered significant attention in recent years. Physical AI is characterized by real-time responses, appropriate reactions to rare phenomena, and ease of operation, with various demonstrations showcasing its ability to flexibly perform a wide range of tasks being released by different organizations. Practical implementations, such as Amazon's DeepFleet, are also progressing.
This lecture will present the current movements toward the social implementation of Physical AI as an intelligent machine system and its future prospects. In particular, it will explore the possibility of integrating the concept of physical intelligence, which endows materials and structures with intelligent functions, within the framework of Physical AI.
