Basics and Latest Trends of Semiconductor Transformers SST [Web Seminar]
With the increasing capacity and high power density of AI data centers, significant transformations are required in power supply and distribution systems. In particular, there is a shift from traditional low-voltage DC power supply to high-voltage 800 V DC distribution, and technologies that efficiently supply power from medium-voltage AC to DC are gaining attention. On the other hand, the large capacity of data centers, rapid load fluctuations, and simultaneous dropouts during system faults present new challenges to the frequency and voltage stability of AC systems. SST (Solid State Transformer) is expected to be a key technology that connects next-generation data centers and power systems, as it can integrate voltage conversion and AC/DC conversion using high-frequency insulation, along with power and voltage control through GFL and GFM control. In light of this background, this seminar will explain the role of SST, circuit configurations, and the latest trends and challenges in practical implementation from the basics.
