Frequently Asked Questions and Answers at the Mechanical Components Technology Exhibition [Osaka] | No Drawings, Machining Only
Thank you for visiting the 29th Mechanical Components Technology Exhibition [Osaka]. Here are some frequently asked questions and their answers from the venue.
■ Is it cheaper to make machined parts as castings?
It depends on the quantity. Switching from machining to casting is cost-effective for orders of five or more. The more pockets and cutouts in the shape, the more material becomes chips, so using a casting closer to the final shape can reduce the amount and time spent on machining. We will provide estimates for both machining and casting side by side.
■ Can you make parts if there is no 3D data and only old drawings?
Yes, we can. If we have the actual part, we can measure its shape using 3D scanning and create data for mold design. We receive requests for replacement parts for discontinued products and for reproducing parts without drawings.
■ Can you process castings made by other companies?
Yes, we can. As a casting manufacturer, we are accustomed to individual differences and variations in machining allowances. We process using 15 five-axis machining centers and confirm dimensions with a three-dimensional measuring machine before shipping.
We can accommodate orders starting from one piece, and prototypes can be shipped in as little as two weeks. If you send us drawings or photos of the actual parts, we will respond with feasibility and a rough estimate.
