Measuring the curved shape of a car seat backrest | SD22-100 case study
SinceVision SinceVision
Measuring the complex curved surfaces of seat backs without damaging leather or fabric. We present a case study of non-contact contour measurement using SinceVision's SD22-100 laser displacement sensor.
The shape of the backrest affects comfort and appearance quality. On the other hand, issues arise with contact measurement leading to scratches and deformations, the time required for visual inspections, and data acquisition on dark surfaces and complex curves. In this case study, multiple sensors and a robotic arm are combined to acquire and record surface height in real-time.
With a reference distance of 100mm, a measurement range of ±50mm, and a repeatability of 20μm, we use a rectangular spot to assist in measuring areas with seams and holes. It supports EtherCAT, RS485, and analog output, allowing contour data to be transmitted to production equipment. This can be utilized for process adjustments and tracking quality information.
Settings can be adjusted on-site using a digital display and buttons, facilitating the transition from sampling inspections to full inspections. Please consult us for measurement configurations tailored to materials such as leather and fabric, target curved surfaces, robotic movements, and required takt times.
