Automatic correction of adhesive application height for in-vehicle cameras | SD33-30 case study
SinceVision SinceVision
In the application of adhesive to the bracket of an onboard camera, variations in the distance between the nozzle and the workpiece can lead to inconsistencies in the amount applied and contact issues. This is an example of position correction for a dispenser using height measurement with the SinceVision SD33-30.
The target is a bracket measuring 20×20×20mm. The requirement is a repeatability of less than 0.01mm and a sampling rate of over 2kHz. A sensor is installed near the nozzle to measure the surface height at 3kHz. This information is transmitted to the control unit via RS485, and the Z-axis is corrected based on the difference from the set distance. This helps maintain the gap between the nozzle and the workpiece, stabilizing the application state.
The SD33-30 has a reference distance of 30mm, a measurement range of ±4mm, linearity of ±0.1% F.S., and a spot size of 70×260μm. The sampling rate can be adjusted from 300Hz to 3kHz.
By capturing height anomalies, it can also be used to reduce the risk of nozzle contact. The measurement information from the sensor is coordinated with the control on the device side to aim for a reduction in over-application, under-application, and rework. Please consult us for implementation tailored to the bracket shape, application path, and required takt time.
