We offer wire-cut electrical discharge machining to form openings and frame contours on cylindrical and cup-shaped parts made of SUS304. For parts where significant deformation is a concern due to large separations, we will consider the process, including the shape before machining and the method of holding. In the case presented, we made large separations at three locations from a SUS304 workpiece with an outer diameter of φ306mm and a height of 370mm to manufacture a frame for a buoy retrieval device. We considered the order of separation to release residual stress and changes in rigidity, and performed centering and setup using a dial gauge. The height of 370mm refers to the overall outer dimensions of the workpiece and does not indicate the actual cutting thickness. The feasibility of machining and the corresponding accuracy will be determined by checking the cross-sectional shape and fixing conditions.
