[New Release] 5-Axis Machining Center 'MCS150'

High-precision laser processing with reduced burrs by suppressing heat with water jet! New demonstration center opened.

The Swiss company Synova, which holds the basic patent for water jet-guided laser (laser microjet technology), has developed the 5-axis machining center 'MCS150'. By passing a water jet with a diameter of less than 100μm, it suppresses heat generation and enables efficient and precise processing while directing high-power lasers onto the material. In addition to having superior "cooling effects" compared to air lasers, it can remove molten material using a water jet without the need for assist gas, allowing for processing with minimal burrs and reduced thermal impact. 【A new demonstration center has been established.】 ■ It is the largest among our demonstration centers. ■ It will be opened at the Makino Milling Machine Co., Ltd. Atsugi office. ■ Two 3-axis machining machines and one simultaneous 5-axis machining machine for diamond tool processing will be permanently available. (Another simultaneous 5-axis machining machine will be added in early 2015.)

High-Performance Manufacturing Equipment - Improving the Manufacturing Efficiency of GE Gas Turbine Parts

Improving the manufacturing efficiency of GE-made gas turbine components! A groundbreaking high-performance manufacturing device.

Swiss company Synova, which has innovative laser cutting technology, and Japanese company Makino Milling Machine Co., Ltd., known for its high-performance and high-quality precision technology, will jointly announce a groundbreaking manufacturing device for gas turbine components using laser microjet technology. This new manufacturing device not only dramatically reduces the processing time required to drill cooling holes in rotating machinery components but also contributes to the development of excellent cooling technologies aimed at improving gas turbine performance and extending the lifespan of components. This manufacturing technology is planned to be utilized in the production of GE's state-of-the-art gas turbines and, in the future, in the manufacturing of GE aircraft engines. Components installed in the hot gas path of rotating machinery are exposed to temperatures exceeding 1,300°C, requiring special materials with heat-resistant coatings. The new manufacturing device using laser microjet technology can create precise holes in these special materials, enabling accurate cooling effects for each component. For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.

Laser Micro Jet Processing Machine "MCS Series"

It is a high-precision laser processing machine that combines the advantages of water jet and laser technology!

The "MCS Series" is a laser processing machine newly developed by Makino Milling Machine Co., Ltd. for LMJ processing. It enables high-precision processing of metals and ceramics, such as cutting, drilling, and grooving, through its high-precision X, Y, Z axes and rotary axis. All controls can be managed from an intuitive touchscreen. The laser oscillator and water pump necessary for processing are all built into the main unit. 【Features】 ■ Water jet ejected from nozzles with a diameter of 100μm or less ■ Creates total reflection phenomena at the water-air interface, directing the laser beam straight to the material ■ Low water pressure flow exerts minimal force on the workpiece, having little impact on ultra-fine materials ■ The water jet removes melted substances, preventing contamination ■ Allows for high-precision processing by rapidly repeating melting and cooling, minimizing thermal effects For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.

ROAD 2026

ROAD 2026: The 7th Roundtable on the Purpose of Autonomous Driving, Japan

  • NEW
  • SEMINAR_EVENT

About ROAD: The "Roundtable on the Purpose of Autonomous Driving (ROAD)" conference series has evolved into a unique platform for interdis-ciplinary dialogue and international collaboration in the field of autonomous driving and autonomous mobility. Established in 2016, ROAD has brought together researchers, industry leaders, and public sector stakeholders from six countries across three continents. Based on this background, the upcoming ROAD 2026 will focus on "safety” and "driving AI”—the final pieces of the autonomous driving puzzle—to advance discussions on establishing the foundational framework for ensuring safety quality and obtaining regular-tory approval for autonomous driving. We also intend to discuss the international commonalities and differences regarding the social value brought about by ADS vehicles in terms of automation, intelligent driving, and mobility. We have established a total of five compelling themes for the Round Workshops, consisting of two topics related to “The Last Piece” and three topics related to the social value of ADS, as shown below. 1) Round Workshop 1 - Horizons of E2E Driving AI → Can AI Understand the Driving Environment Like Humans? 2) Round Workshop 2 - Beyond the Unknown: Safety Cases for ADS → Can Safety Ever Be Proven? 3) Round Workshop 3 - Envisioning Smart City Mobility → Can Smart City Mobility Bridge the Mobility Divide? 4) Round Workshop 4 - Logistics Enhancement Through Autonomous Tracking → Will Logistics Become Human-Free? 5) Round Workshop 5 - The Evolution of CASE: SDV/AIDV → Will Automakers Become AI Companies? We hope you’ll all join us!

[Seminar] Design and Operation of Civil Liability and Governance in AI Development and Use

  • NEW
  • SEMINAR_EVENT

[Instructor] Yuichiro Kabushiki, Partner Lawyer at TMI Comprehensive Law Office [Key Lecture Content] With the spread of AI, there is growing attention on the civil liability of developers, providers, and users of AI. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will publish "Guidelines on the Interpretation and Application of Civil Liability in AI Utilization" in April 2026, and the Ministry of Justice will also establish an expert meeting to examine civil liability related to unauthorized use of images and voices generated by AI in the same month. As the full enforcement of the AI Promotion Act and the revision of AI guidelines are underway, it is necessary to design and operate governance based on the potential responsibilities that may arise retrospectively. In this seminar, based on the guidelines from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and drawing on litigation practice experience as a judge and lawyer, we will organize the basic framework for assessing civil liability and explain fundamental methods for designing and operating governance based on risk analysis. Furthermore, we will examine the framework for civil liability and the design and operation of governance using hypothetical cases that are likely to pose practical issues.
