[Technical Column] When to Replace? Guidelines for Replacing Gaskets for Stainless Steel Containers

When using stainless steel containers, there are various requirements for the containers depending on their intended use. Sealing components play a crucial role when sealing the containers or piping from the containers to manufacturing equipment. Here, we will explain the various sealing components commonly used in our stainless steel containers, focusing particularly on gaskets. However, what is described here is a general introduction to commonly known items. There are many other types of sealing components depending on the materials and applications. Identification and management can be done using the color of the packing, allowing for differentiation with colored packing in cases where the contents may impart odors to the packing. Due to the colors, it is easier to detect if the packing is chipped and has mixed into the contents. The packing comes in four colors (red, blue, green, and white) and is used by attaching it to the rim of the container. It is ideal for temporary storage of powders and liquids that are sensitive to moisture and outside air, as it is a sealed stainless steel tank. With a handle, it allows for smooth transportation and movement when using a dedicated cart (KM series). The corners of the bottom have an R structure, making it difficult for dirt to accumulate, thus ensuring good cleanliness and hygiene. When combined with a transparent acrylic lid [AF], it is also possible to distinguish the color of the packing while the lid is on.

● What is a hydrogen leak detector? It can measure leaks in small areas that could not be detected in air leak tests and can also identify the leak locations. It is a detector that uses a mixture of 5% hydrogen and 95% nitrogen (non-flammable gas: ISO10156:2017) as the tracer gas. ● What is a helium leak test system? It is a leak test system suitable for high-precision or high-pressure leak inspections. The helium leak test system uses helium gas as the detection gas (tracer gas) and detects the helium that has leaked out. The FMZ-1063 is a compact, all-in-one flow tester with various functions. "FU series" This is a flow measurement unit that integrates laminar and differential pressure sensors, making it smaller and lighter. When connected to a display indicator (model: MI-170), it can provide direct flow readings as well as pressure and flow judgments. "FLF-110 series" This is a laminar flow meter capable of measuring a wide range of flow rates from 2 NmL/min to 500 NL/min.

What is an Air Leak Tester? An "Air Leak Tester" is a device that pressurizes the inside (or outside) of a sealed workpiece with air and determines the presence of leaks based on pressure changes. When a master with no leaks and a workpiece with leaks are pressurized, the pressure on the workpiece side decreases, creating a pressure difference between the two. By measuring this pressure difference, the presence of leaks can be determined. Generally, differential pressure air leak testing is widely used, but Fukuda also offers products that utilize direct pressure leak testing and flow meters according to the leak rate, in addition to differential pressure leak testers. Since the air leak tester uses air as the measurement medium, it incurs no running costs and is environmentally friendly.
