Purpose of the Event
Securing profits through cost reduction activities is a paramount issue in the manufacturing industry. Moreover, implementing cost reductions in the upstream of manufacturing, specifically in design, can yield effects that are dozens of times greater than cost reduction activities at the shop floor level. By optimizing shapes and reducing the number of parts in design, costs will undoubtedly decrease.
In this seminar, we will explain how to advance low-cost design with a focus on "optimal shapes and parts reduction," based on VA (Value Analysis) and VE (Value Engineering), using a wealth of drawing samples. Along this line, we will address design troubles by intertwining six perspectives: 1. Processing methods 2. Processing processes 3. Weight reduction 4. Materials 5. Drawings 6. Similar products, and improve QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) through optimized design for "optimal shapes and parts reduction," leveraging the advantages of 3D CAD in shape recognition. Participants will engage in practical training on low-cost design using VA/VE through concrete examples and group exercises, focusing on advancing designs without excess or waste.
