[Purpose]
The incorporation of waterproof functions into electronic devices, particularly smartphones, is becoming increasingly common. The benefits include the protection of electronic circuits and a reduction in failure rates, leading to improved product quality and integrity. The required waterproof standards and tests vary by product, but the fundamental waterproof structure does not change significantly. We will summarize and explain the basic components or structures. In particular, we will include manufacturer-provided materials in the explanations for each component.
Challenges of waterproof products include increased component costs, design constraints, and reduced functionality. Special attention is needed for miniaturization and weight reduction. We will clearly explain these points.
In the development and design of waterproof devices, are you still conducting evaluations through repeated cut-and-try methods? Here, we propose the realization of front-loading as an example of waterproof device development. We will explain the overview of the CAE-utilized development process, and we hope it will assist in process improvement.
