The "9400 Series" is a drop weight impact testing machine that can be used not only for punching but also for compression, three-point bending, and tensile-tensile impact tests. As the use of thermoplastics, composites, and metal alloys as high-performance materials for weight reduction in automotive, aerospace, and defense applications increases, the need to streamline the product development process and confirm the consistency between simulations and test results is extremely important. Measuring the residual strength of composite laminates after damage! Introducing the CAI test procedure!

The "Post-Impact Compression (CAI) Test" is a two-step test developed to evaluate the potential damage of composite laminate materials using test specimens. In the first step, a drop-weight impact testing machine is used to apply visible impact damage (BVID) to the test specimen. In the second step, a static universal material testing machine is used to conduct a compression test on the damaged specimen, measuring the residual strength of the composite laminate after sustaining impact damage. Instron's "drop-weight impact testing machine" is used for the development, fine-tuning, and validation of various material models.
