Gypsum casting tends to have a higher likelihood of shrinkage cavities due to the airtight nature of the gypsum mold and the fact that it is cooled slowly after casting. Unlike metal molds, gypsum casting allows for individual modifications of the molds. One of the advantages of gypsum casting is that if the anticipated casting plan does not yield satisfactory results, it is easy to change the plan by modifying the gypsum mold.
