The products created at the request of the Ministry of Communications (later the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT)) in 1946 were supplied to various electric power companies and the National Railways, forming the basis for the current JIS standards for pliers.
