The Alusurf 650 treatment is a chemical conversion coating applied to aluminum materials. It is of the trivalent chromium type and does not contain hexavalent chromium. The coating thickness is less than 1µm (0.001mm). The features include the formation of excellent corrosion-resistant coatings on both aluminum and its alloys. The properties after treatment provide conductivity. It is also suitable as a base for painting, improving the adhesion between aluminum and the paint. When painting aluminum, processing a hexavalent chromium conversion coating or a trivalent chromium conversion coating between the aluminum and the paint significantly enhances the adhesion of the paint. (This is the key point for adhesion! It acts like an adhesive.) The coating thickness can be adjusted based on the treatment time, and the electrical resistance value can also be varied. Due to recent environmental issues, major manufacturers are requesting products that are hexavalent chromium-free. At Kodama, we recommend the environmentally friendly Sartech 650 treatment. The coating is prone to scratches, so care must be taken during handling. Alodine treatment and Sartech 650 treatment can also be stripped and reprocessed, allowing for a change from Alodine treatment to Sartech 650 treatment.
