The SIS XP, developed by the German company Roland, is a dedicated device for detecting defects in tire steel wire cord materials. This device uses magnetic detection principles to continuously inspect the condition of abnormal areas and splice sections of the steel wire cord material during the tire manufacturing process, and outputs that information. At many tire manufacturers, including Michelin and Goodyear, the splice process after cutting involves confirming the normal and abnormal conditions of the splice area, detecting any abnormalities in the steel wire, and displaying this information on an attached PC screen as well as outputting it externally. Compared to X-ray inspection devices, this approach aims to reduce initial costs and enhance operational safety, thereby contributing to a reduction in tire manufacturing costs.
