The inner surface of the cylinder has sufficient wall thickness machining allowance to allow for several borings and can accommodate special uses such as thermal spraying of wear-resistant alloys and press-fitting of sleeves. Similarly, the sliding surface of the valve also has sufficient re-cutting allowance, allowing for the application of wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant alloy coatings.
