It is possible to measure the total intensity of both near ultraviolet UVA waves (315-400nm) and medium ultraviolet UVB waves (280-315nm). By simply pointing the sensor part of the UV-5.0 towards the sun or the object being measured and pressing the measurement button on the main unit, anyone can easily measure ultraviolet intensity. The measurement values are instantly displayed digitally on a large LCD screen. When measuring only the ultraviolet UVA intensity, you can use the sister device, the digital ultraviolet intensity meter UV-6.0 (for UVB measurement only), to measure UVB and then determine the UVA intensity by subtracting the UVB intensity from the UVA/UVB intensity.
