[Case Study] Measures Against Ore Falling from Conveyor Belts - Measures Against Damage to the Belt
Measures against ore falling from the conveyor belt - Measures against damage to the belt using a belt cleaner.
At the steelworks, a belt cleaner has been installed as a measure against material spillage from the raw material transport belt. However, the previously used cleaner had a scraping part (tip) made of super steel. While the super steel tips were effective in scraping, they caused issues when there were partial repairs or uneven wear on the belt, as they would dig in and damage the belt or cause uneven wear. In some cases, they even caused significant damage such as longitudinal tears by digging into the belt itself. They were looking for a good solution to achieve the conflicting objectives of cleaning the belt surface (scraping) and preventing damage to the belt. Additionally, poor scraping effectiveness on the belt surface could lead to spillage of the transported raw materials, resulting in increased labor and costs for cleaning up spills in the factory. 1. Measures against material spillage from the conveyor belt. 2. Measures to prevent damage to the belt from the belt cleaner.

basic information
1. Proposal to change the material from super steel cleaner to hard urethane cleaner. 2. Conducting installation supervision and proposing the optimal installation conditions. 3. Regular inspections conducted by Kamata Industries. After confirming the performance of the chip part made of hard urethane cleaner "Dart Haug Pre-Cleaner," I recommended it. The "Dart Haug Pre-Cleaner" has a chip part made of hard urethane resin, which makes it less likely to scratch the belt, has fewer parts compared to conventional cleaners, and can be easily replaced since it does not use bolts and nuts for installation. Additionally, when the chip wears down, the adjustment of the pressing force that pushes the chip against the belt can be done simply by switching the adjustment mechanism at the end of the cleaner without stopping the conveyor line, among other benefits. Regarding the quotation and delivery of the Dart Haug Pre-Cleaner, we will need information on belt width, belt speed, conveyed materials, and operating temperature, as well as a drawing of the chute section. We will select the cleaner, create an installation drawing, and provide a quotation. Based on that drawing, a representative from Kamata Industries will check the site to confirm whether installation is possible.
