Regarding the treatment of surplus sludge in the wastewater treatment facility, the surplus activated sludge was coagulated using chemical agents with dewatering equipment, dehydrated with a cloth-type dewatering machine, and then entrusted to a contractor for disposal as industrial waste. The moisture content of the dewatered sludge cake was high, resulting in increased weight and higher disposal costs for industrial waste, which was a concern. (The industrial waste disposal contractor calculated costs based on volume and weight upon collection.) 1. The operational management of the wastewater treatment facility is not good, and there is poor activity of the activated sludge due to fluctuations in the quality of the raw wastewater. (When the activity of the activated sludge is poor, the amount of dewatered sludge increases due to phenomena such as sludge bulking.) 2. The capacity of the dewatering machine decreases due to insufficient coagulation reaction of the chemical agents used for dewatering sludge. (This leads to an increase in weight due to higher moisture content in the dewatered sludge.) 3. The amount of dewatered sludge cake for disposal increases, leading to higher industrial waste treatment costs. (The cost for the industrial waste disposal contractor is between ¥30,000 to ¥50,000 per cubic meter/ton.)

We provided advice on the operation management of wastewater treatment facilities, activating the activated sludge to cultivate high-quality activated sludge and stabilize the water quality of the effluent. Additionally, we sent sampling sludge to the chemical manufacturer for coagulation reaction tests and conducted coagulation reaction tests at the customer's wastewater treatment plant for confirmation.
