basic information
Apodizing filters are used to achieve uniform illumination in optical systems. The bullseye type filter has a high optical density (OD) at the center of the substrate, with a continuously decreasing density towards the edge of the substrate (uncoated area), and is coated with an ND filter. It is commonly used to flatten the intensity distribution of a Gaussian beam. In contrast, the reverse bullseye type filter has a high optical density (OD) at the edge of the substrate, with a continuously decreasing density towards the center of the substrate (uncoated area), and is also coated with an ND filter.
