basic information
This is a plastic optical fiber with excellent light transmission properties and low transmission loss. The core is made of high-purity methacrylate resin (polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)), while the cladding uses a special polymer. The cladding is made of a material with a lower refractive index than the core and covers the core with a very thin layer. This structure allows light entering the fiber at a specified angle to propagate within the core while undergoing total internal reflection at the core/cladding boundary. The POF from Edmund Optics is designed to achieve high transparency across the entire visible spectrum, and two types are available: one without a jacket and one with a jacket. For the product lineup of standard specifications, their details, and sales prices, please refer to the relevant product page on the official website of Edmund Optics Japan Co., Ltd.
