This is a line generator lens originally designed for He-Ne lasers. Typically, cylindrical lenses (cylinder lenses) or rod lenses are used to form lines of laser light, but the lines formed by these lenses tend to be bright in the center with a thick line width, while the edges of the line become dark and narrow (Gaussian distribution). In high-precision line illumination applications that involve light cutting, the use of lines with a Gaussian distribution is generally not preferred. In the case of this product, due to its special optical shape based on a patented Powell glass design, it forms a non-Gaussian distribution line. When using this product with a 3.5mW output He-Ne laser, a bright line can be seen at a distance of 9 meters under indoor lighting. Optimized for a laser beam diameter of 0.8mm. *You can download the catalog from Edmund Optics Japan that features this product from the link below.
