When someone arrives, set the air purifier to low to reduce noise (return to high once they leave). When someone arrives, start video recording for security purposes (stop to save tape/disk once they leave). Various applications are possible depending on how you use it. If there are devices that cannot be directly turned on/off with an infrared remote control and need to be powered on/off directly, please consider using a commercially available infrared remote-controlled outlet switch.
