**Temperature Change Durability** The temperature change durability in accordance with IS0718 refers to the temperature difference at which cracks appear in half of the samples due to thermal shock between hot samples and cold water (room temperature). The temperature change durability of glass tubes and glass rods is influenced by the thickness, shape, surface characteristics, elasticity, and end treatments of the glass. Uneven or rapid heating or cooling of the glass can cause it to break due to the added thermal stress. Care must be taken not to exceed a temperature difference of 120°C. Furthermore, if the glass is thicker, the allowable temperature difference becomes even smaller.
