Open Source Project "Yocto Concierge"

In embedded/IoT devices, it has become common to adopt Linux OS. Many embedded developers may have questions such as, "How is Linux used in embedded systems?" or "What exactly is Linux?" when transitioning from RTOS or bare-metal systems, or from Windows to Linux. The "Introduction to Embedded Linux Seminar" will start with "What is Linux?" and provide basic information that serves as a stepping stone for transitioning to Linux. In this seminar, we will introduce a demo that actually runs on the target board using an image built with the Yocto Project, based on the Linux BSP provided for the NXP i.MX8M board.

Renewal of the Yocto Super Practical Course! Linux is an important technology in cutting-edge fields that are currently major topics, such as AI, autonomous driving, and IoT. There is a growing interest in the Yocto Project as the Linux needed for its development, and the adoption of Yocto BSP (Board Support Package) as a development environment is increasing. On the other hand, since terms like "recipe," "layer," "Poky," and "BitBake" are used in Yocto BSP, it is built on a different approach and system than before, making understanding and mastering it a challenge. The course consists of detailed explanations and exercises about BitBake and the tools that are central to the Yocto Project. The exercises are designed to reflect actual development environments, and by progressing through them, participants can expect to overcome the difficulties and complexities of BitBake, leading to the realization that "BitBake is not scary at all."

This is an introductory course on embedded Linux for developers who are considering using Linux but find it hard to grasp the concept even after reading books or browsing the web, or who want more technical information. It addresses questions about how the OS they are currently working with differs from Linux, particularly embedded Linux. This course will be held as an online seminar (Zoom Webinar).
