This is a printed circuit board material (copper-clad laminate) that has the characteristic of "low transmission loss" in the sense of "transmitting signals faster and more." When current (signal) flows through the circuit of the printed circuit board, this energy causes the molecules of the resin in the underlying insulating board to vibrate, generating heat. This phenomenon is similar to how microwaves in a microwave oven vibrate the water molecules in food to heat it. The heat generated in this way is energy that should originally be transmitted as a signal, and the extent to which the signal is degraded is represented by the "dielectric loss tangent (Df)." The frequency of microwaves in a microwave oven is about 2.5 gigahertz, while that of millimeter-wave radar can reach about 80 gigahertz. When the resin molecules of the insulating board vibrate intensely, more signals will be lost. CS-3379M is a printed circuit board material that significantly reduces the dielectric loss tangent (Df). The Df of typical printed circuit board materials, which are generally based on epoxy resin, is about 0.020 even at just 1 megahertz, whereas CS-3379M has a measured Df of 0.0028 at 100 gigahertz, exceeding the millimeter-wave radar band.   ▼Results of Thermal Cycle Testing (Through-Hole Reliability) For printed circuit board materials used in vehicles, it is essential that the circuits (especially in the vertical direction) do not break when repeatedly exposed to high and low temperatures. We tested whether the circuits would remain intact after alternating exposure to -40°C for 30 minutes and +125°C for 30 minutes, repeating this cycle 3000 times. If a break occurs, the rate of change in resistance measured at both ends of the 500 through-holes connected in series (vertical axis) will show a spike. As shown in the graph, the values of the resistance change rate remain stable.
