Technical Data: Automatic Conductivity Measurement of Low Conductivity Water Samples in Compliance with USP645
Japanese translation of the application note discussing the possibility of automatic measurement of low conductivity water samples in accordance with USP645.
This introduces an example of continuous multi-sample conductivity measurement in compliance with USP standards, conducted using an auto-sampler, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry. It is recommended for customers considering efficiency and labor-saving solutions, as conductivity measurements of water are performed daily, not only in the pharmaceutical industry.

basic information
This application note demonstrates the possibility of automatic measurement of low conductivity water samples in accordance with USP645. In particular, sterilized water samples used for the preparation of injectable solutions are measured according to this standard. USP645 describes a three-stage analysis method.

Applications/Examples of results
The first step is to measure the conductivity and compare it to the conductivity limit at the measurement temperature. If the conductivity is not within this limit, the second step is executed. At this time, the sample temperature is 25 ± 1°C, and the conductivity is measured under these conditions. If the conductivity exceeds the limit of 2.1 µS/cm, we proceed to the analysis of the third step and measure the pH. The conductivity measured in the second step is compared to the limit value at the given pH.
