Free samples available! Prevents streaks during extrusion molding with the lubricity of 'Tef-Lock'.
We received an inquiry from a manufacturer engaged in the extrusion molding of resin pipes, who reported that vertical stripes were inevitably appearing on the products when passing through the sizing process to cool and solidify the extruded pipes. While they had tried general Teflon coatings and other surface treatments containing Teflon to improve slip and release properties, they were somewhat satisfied with the hardness and wear resistance of hard chrome plating. However, they were looking for a surface treatment that would maintain hardness and wear resistance while providing a bit more lubrication and release properties. In response, we introduced our "Tef-Lock." Thanks to the excellent slip properties of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), we successfully eliminated the vertical stripes that were occurring during the sizing process. Additionally, the previous plating company they had used for hard chrome plating had caused significant bulging at the entrance edge, which was crucial for regulating the dimensions of the resin pipes and negatively affecting quality. They were pleased to find that our plating improved this issue as well.

basic information
The self-lubricating chrome plating "Tef-Lock" is a unique high-performance composite surface treatment technology that combines the excellent mechanical properties of hard chrome plating, such as high hardness and wear resistance, with the non-stick properties and excellent release characteristics of fluoropolymer resin. Since the base is chrome plating, it has a hardness of about HV850. For heat resistance, we recommend around 250°C, but there is also a heat-resistant version that can be used at higher temperatures. It complies with the standards for equipment and container packaging based on the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Notification No. 370, allowing it to be used in applications where food comes into direct contact with the Tef-Lock surface. The processing temperature is about 200°C, which is low enough to have minimal thermal impact on the material. Like regular chrome plating, it can be stripped and reprocessed. It can be applied to a wide range of metal materials, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, copper alloys, and nickel.
