Although it is often confused, it is common to use hexavalent chromium in hard chrome plating; however, the hard chrome plating coating itself is in the zero-valent state, meaning it is metallic chromium and does not contain hexavalent chromium. However, since it is a plating solution that uses hexavalent chromium, if the plated item (product) has a complex shape or many cavities, there is a risk that the solution containing hexavalent chromium may adhere and remain.
