In this column, we introduce the differences between induction heating and dielectric heating. Induction heating refers to the phenomenon where metal is heated by "induced currents/eddy currents" that are induced in the metal by an alternating magnetic field generated from the current flowing through a heating coil (also called a work coil or inductor). Additionally, materials containing moisture and plastics with bipolar characteristics are heated by dielectric heating.
