Additive for paint that protects the coating from ultraviolet rays to improve the weather resistance of exterior wall paint.
This is an additive used to improve weather resistance, commonly used in coatings. We will suggest the optimal product based on the resin used and the application! *A must-see for paint manufacturers' developers.
■About the degradation of paint films The acrylic and urethane resins used in coatings deteriorate after application due to the effects of ultraviolet (UV) light. ■Types of additives used in coatings - UV Absorbers (UV absorber = UVA) These are additives that literally absorb ultraviolet light. They absorb UV light within the paint film and convert its energy into heat or vibration, thereby reducing the impact of UV light on the paint film. →→Recommended product numbers: UV-1130, UV 384-2, UV-928 - Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers (HALS) Hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS) are commonly used. Their main function is to capture and neutralize radicals generated within the paint film. When used in conjunction with UVA, a synergistic effect can be expected. →→Recommended product numbers: UV-123, UV-292 For more detailed information, please feel free to contact us!

basic information
■Regarding the degradation of the coating film (Supplement) When resin is exposed to ultraviolet light, radicals are generated within the coating film, which react with the carbon chains of the resin itself, leading to the destruction and degradation of the polymer. Visible changes include the following phenomena: - Loss of gloss - The coating film itself crumbles - Changes in the color of the coating film, etc. ■How to prevent degradation from ultraviolet light By adding two types of additives, UV absorbers and light stabilizers (HALS), to the paint formulation, it is possible to suppress changes in the coating film caused by ultraviolet light. It is necessary to select additives based on the base resin and application. ■Selection of resin additives The following factors significantly influence the selection process: - UVA absorption spectrum - Compatibility with the base material, molecular weight (liquid/solid) - Cost Additionally, suitable antioxidants may be used in conjunction with the resin.
