This is a work by the Castiglioni brothers, Achille and Pier Giacomo, from 1962, and it is a masterpiece of modern lighting design. The name comes from the beautiful arch (arco) created by the stainless steel arm extending from the heavy marble base. Its elegantly drooping form gives it a dignified presence that becomes the face of the living room. The shade has a double structure, with the outer shade being movable, allowing for the adjustment of the direction of light. Light can also be projected towards the ceiling through the hole at the top of the shade, creating a fantastical atmosphere. The arm, composed of four parts, is nested, providing space to hide the wiring.
