◆◆To Prevent Labor Accidents Caused by Falls◆◆ ■In February 2019, the revision of the Labor Safety and Health Act Enforcement Order changed safety belts to "fall arrest equipment." ■In high-altitude work, wearing a full harness is the principle. A full harness can support the body with multiple belts, dispersing the impact during a fall and providing higher safety in terms of body protection compared to a body belt. Therefore, the principle is that fall arrest equipment should be of the full harness type. Wearing a full harness is mandatory if the work height exceeds 6.75 meters! ■The structural standards for full harnesses and lanyards will also change. To align the requirements for fall arrest equipment (safety belts) with international standards and ensure safety more reliably, the structural standards and their measurement methods will be revised in the JIS standards. There will be items where not only the performance values change but also the testing methods themselves.
