For high-quality, reproducible CryoEM grid preparation!
We assist in the creation of high-quality Cryo-EM samples. Thanks to the nanowires on the grid surface, blotting of the samples is unnecessary. ● High-speed sample processing without blotting Using hygroscopic grids treated with nanowires allows for rapid sample dispensing in the air. This reduces the effects of the gas-liquid interface and may address issues related to preferred orientation, aggregation, or denaturation. ● Automated grid processing A series of operations from sample application to freezing of the grid set in the grid holder is automated. The movements are precisely controlled, preventing manual damage or loss. ● Sample tracking and recording To ensure reproducibility, relevant parameters and grid images are recorded. ● Features ◻︎ Glow discharge device integrated into the workflow inside the main unit ◻︎ Function to adjust the drop speed of the tweezers ◻︎ QC system after sample dispensing ◻︎ Data tracking and reporting capabilities

Applications/Examples of results
Chameleon is a product developed from the system previously researched and developed as "Spotiton." The core idea was conceived by the group of Bridget Carragher and Clint Potter at the New York Structural Biology Centre (NYSBC). They focused on the limitations of existing grid preparation methods and aimed to develop a more reliable and reproducible technique for grid vitrification by miniaturizing sample dispensing using inkjet technology. Spotiton, published in 2012, has undergone numerous improvements and contributed to an increase in cutting-edge publications on high-resolution structural analysis and interfacial effects. Chameleon leverages the advantages of Spotiton and incorporates the automation technologies that SPT Labtech has cultivated in the field of structural biology. Detailed information
-
Picoliter dispensing head: Adopting a piezoelectric method, it accurately dispenses samples in minute amounts even in the air.
-
Grid holder & tweezers: All operations are automated, reducing the risk of grid damage.
-
Freezing agent bowl assembly: It can be integrated into the main body and detects the temperature of ethane and the liquid volume of liquid nitrogen using sensors.
-
Camera: One is used for calculating the descent speed of the tweezers and checking the grid. The other is used for checking the condition of the sample dispensing.
-
Interlock of the main door: Ensures that the equipment can always be used safely.
