**Differences Between Light Forming and Other Technologies** Light forming is a technology often used for high-performance prototypes, such as high-performance models and practical prototype models. In vacuum casting, light sculpting, and 3D printing, the main applications are working models and design models; however, if performance is a priority in prototyping, light forming is the better choice. That said, it is not suitable for mass production, so it only accommodates the production of individual prototypes or small lot production. What is optical molding? Optical molding is the world's first new technology that uses silicone rubber molds to shape actual models of thermoplastic resins. The molding material for mass production (thermoplastic resin) is made into fine particles, filled into a silicone mold, and while being vacuum compressed, is heated and melted by near-infrared light irradiated from the outside, which passes through the silicone rubber mold, to form the fine particle material placed inside the mold. This method allows for the rapid and cost-effective production of actual models with the same performance as products made by injection molding.
