Our company is advancing the understanding of disease mechanisms and the development of preventive methods, as well as preventive and functional foods, based on the results of protein science research. So far, we have successfully purified beta-secretase as a recombinant protein in large quantities and high purity, and we have conducted a search for inhibitory candidate substances using this enzyme. As a result, we found that only one type of natural product, which is present in trace amounts in plants, shows a clear inhibitory effect on beta-secretase.
