We will carefully respond to detailed carbonization treatment.
Our company supports heat treatment for a wide variety of small lots, performing heat treatment on various products such as precision parts, automotive parts, and industrial equipment parts. For areas that require secondary processing, such as screw holes and keyways, we carefully implement carburizing prevention measures. ● For complex shapes and thin-walled items that are prone to distortion, we devise processes and setups to minimize warping. ● Long shafts are finished using a dedicated distortion removal device after quenching. ● We can accommodate short delivery times. Suitable for small quantities of various types; please consult us even for just one piece.

basic information
Case hardening is a heat treatment process that involves diffusing carbon into the surface of a metal with a low carbon content to create a hardened layer on the surface. The amount of carbon in steel affects its hardness and strength; however, increasing the carbon content makes the steel harder but also more brittle, reducing its toughness. By performing case hardening, only the surface is hardened while the interior remains soft, allowing for a balance between wear resistance and toughness.

Applications/Examples of results
■Method of Carburizing The method of carburizing varies depending on the equipment used, including salt carburizing, gas carburizing, and vacuum carburizing. ●Salt Carburizing This method involves heating and carburizing using a salt bath furnace. Since it is heated in liquid form, it allows for uniform treatment with minimal distortion. It is suitable for small parts and is used for a wide range of products from mass-produced items to single items. ●Gas Carburizing This is the most common heat treatment method, where carburizing gas is used to carburize the steel. The steel is heated to 900–940°C for carburizing, followed by quenching. This method is suitable for mass production. ●Vacuum Carburizing In this method, acetylene gas is introduced into a vacuum furnace, and the activated carbon generated by thermal decomposition permeates the surface of the steel. Since the furnace is in an oxygen-free state, there is no oxygen intrusion into the steel, allowing for uniform carburizing without inconsistencies.

Company information
Heat treatment deals with natural phenomena and imparts the desired functions to steel. Since we cannot change the natural phenomena themselves, the success of heat treatment relies entirely on what happens "before heat treatment." At Mutou Industries, we emphasize education based on "knowledge-based experience," demonstrating our capabilities in hypothesis formulation, proposal-making, and responsiveness. Headquarters and Factory: Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture Tokai Office: Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture Tohoku Office: Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture Special Class Metal Heat Treatment Technicians: 2 First Class Metal Heat Treatment Technicians: 15 Second Class Metal Heat Treatment Technicians: 8 Third Class Metal Heat Treatment Technicians: 2 Second Class Metal Materials Testing Technicians: 2 (as of February 2024) We collaborate with processing partner companies to provide consistent support from machining to heat treatment. If you provide us with the drawings, we will ensure the quality after heat treatment in collaboration with the machining industry. We will enter into a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) as necessary.
