A chemical product manufacturer was producing two types of compound resins by drying a paste with abrasive properties and was facing issues with seal leakage on the dryer’s shaft. To improve wear resistance and productivity, they decided to consider the introduction of a cost-effective seal that could maintain a vacuum state in the dryer. The MECO seal is a shaft sealing device newly developed by Wuddex Bearing Company in Maine, USA, for low-speed rotating equipment. It has a special structure similar to a dry mechanical seal and is custom-made with a two-part design, making it very easy to retrofit and maintain in existing machinery. While it has high sealing performance, it also has a large tolerance for shaft runout, making it highly effective for retrofitting devices that use gland packing. Various models are available, including those designed to withstand high temperatures, those that enhance sanitary properties, and inexpensive off-the-shelf models suitable for simple devices, allowing us to provide original seals tailored to the customer's applications and specifications.
