This is a case study of a power supply for overseas communication base stations (module for VME 6U size). For domestic use, we had produced two types of power supplies, but for overseas use, there was a request to produce one type that could be used for two different applications. However, making it a dual-purpose specification required an increase in output by 10%, which raised concerns about cost. Therefore, we removed lower-priority functions and simplified the design to achieve a lower cost.
