About Silvec's antibacterial plating
We created test specimens using four types of plating that are believed to have high antibacterial properties and conducted tests based on JIS Z 2801 at a formal evaluation institution. The test bacteria used were Staphylococcus aureus, and polyethylene film was used as the unprocessed test specimen. The results showed that three types of plated test specimens had antibacterial activity values of 2.0 or higher. It is stipulated that if the antibacterial activity value is 2.0 or higher, the product has antibacterial effects. While antibacterial properties were confirmed in the three types of plating, we also understand that there are specially high-effect plating types (with antibacterial activity values of 5.0 or higher). About "Antiviral Coating" Antibacterial and antiviral need to be distinguished. Antiviral refers to reducing the number of specific viruses on a product. The antiviral effect of our "antiviral coating" has been tested and submitted to a formal testing organization. What is antibacterial? It refers to suppressing the proliferation of bacteria. It is distinguished from sterilization, which temporarily kills bacteria, and disinfection, which removes them. Method of measuring antibacterial effect The effect is measured by testing based on JIS Z 2801. In "JIS Z 2801 Antibacterial Processed Products - Antibacterial Testing Methods and Antibacterial Effects," it is defined as "a state that suppresses the recent proliferation of bacteria on the surface of the product." This does not include fungi such as mold and yeast. Definition of antibacterial processed products Products that are processed to prevent the proliferation of bacteria on their surfaces are called antibacterial processed products. According to JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards), if the recent proliferation rate compared to the surface of unprocessed products is 1/100 or less (antibacterial activity value of 2.0 or higher), it is stipulated that the product has antibacterial effects.
