In the early 2010s, the facility manager and assistant manager of the Kenneth W. Hotz Water Resource Recovery Facility (formerly the Liverpool Wastewater Treatment Plant) in Medina County, Ohio, faced the challenge of improving the sludge treatment process. In the region, they decided to adopt an anaerobic digester equipped with thermal hydrolysis pretreatment to maximize energy efficiency through biogas production and recovery.
