**Voices of Teachers in Aroma Introduction and Fragrance Product Creation** ■General Hospital I was wondering if there was anything I could do to help patients with their treatment. - Addressing the odor issues in the inpatient wards (not just masking with aroma fragrance, but implementing various initiatives) - Distributing aroma seals for mental support to inpatients and outpatients - Although there may not be immediate effects, I believe there are many situations where scents can be used, such as for insomnia, menopausal discomfort, child development, and support for the elderly. ■Physical Therapist Also in Charge of Aroma I was shocked to find a statement in the treatment guidelines of the "Japanese Orthopaedic Association" that 80% of lower back pain is related to mental health. This was the catalyst for my interest. I determined that aroma could be a good means for pain control, which led to its introduction. I was thinking about what could be done for symptoms and disabilities that were not improving with my current treatment methods as a physical therapist when I learned about the introduction of aroma into healthcare, which piqued my interest. Later, I discovered that there is a possibility that it could help in the prevention of Alzheimer’s-type dementia (through olfactory stimulation), which further increased my desire to study it. *For more details, please feel free to contact us.*

■Aroma Room Installation / Aromatherapist on Duty - Orthopedics and Rehabilitation The waiting time for consultations has been extremely long, leading to complaints at the reception and causing frustration for both patients and staff. To alleviate this frustration during the waiting period, we have implemented short hand massages. We offer aromatherapy to patients who wish to participate for about 15 minutes each. The effects of the aroma and its fragrance have significantly reduced complaints. Recently, some patients have reported feeling less irritated in their daily lives, experiencing relief from joint pain in their hands and fingers, and finding relief from shoulder stiffness. ■Aromatherapy Implementation in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics We have introduced aromatherapy massages for patients, which have been very well received. Elderly individuals have also participated, and although they were initially apprehensive, many have expressed that they found comfort not only in the massage but also in the aroma. I believe this is a field that will continue to grow. A wide range of patients, including those with insomnia, chronic fatigue, caregiver fatigue, lower back pain, shoulder stiffness, headaches, panic disorders, and gynecological issues, are utilizing this service. Aromatherapy sessions are held every Wednesday. *For more details, please feel free to contact us.*

Implementation of Aromatherapy in Internal Medicine When we express "aroma," it may seem somewhat inaccessible to those who are unfamiliar with it, but around us, scents and smells exist abundantly and naturally. Among these, we have all experienced how certain scents can calm us, energize us, or evoke emotions in ways that are not visible. I have long wanted to know what "the scent of lavender" from a certain movie was like. As I continued to yearn for it, I eventually had the opportunity to smell lavender, whether through incense or essential oils. A few years ago, I was able to participate in an aromatherapy course organized by the medical association, where I learned about aromatherapy from various perspectives under Dr. Tamano. Through this connection, I have been able to provide aromatherapy to patients at our clinic. Since then, I have been guided by the doctor to deepen my knowledge, which had previously only skimmed the surface. While I have not fully mastered it yet, the difference between knowing and not knowing makes me realize that "it is just a scent, yet it is so much more." I believe that by acquiring multifaceted knowledge and making aromatherapy my own, I can broaden the horizons of my life.

Facility Director and Staff We are also asking residents, their families, and staff for their cooperation. We are utilizing aroma stickers as well. While the residents are pleased, I believe the greatest enjoyment comes from the staff, doesn’t it? It seems that the presence of aromatherapy has made the workplace more comfortable, with staff experiencing relief from physical pain and increased motivation. There was an issue with odors, but this was also resolved with specialized knowledge.

A dental anesthesiologist who helps calm patients afraid of dental treatment. It is said that over 80% of people express fear and discomfort regarding dental procedures. One of the reasons for this is the unique smell of hospitals. Since dental treatments are performed close to the nasal cavity, special consideration is necessary. Many patients recall the smell from their childhood when they were held down during treatment. The greater the tension and anxiety, the more pain is felt during treatment, so I thought about ways to help patients relax, and I arrived at using aromatherapy with essential oils. I use Aroma Clear for all my patients. During the initial consultation, I let patients choose their favorite scent. They are often very pleased, as they have never experienced such a clinic before. Simply dropping essential oils onto a sticker allows patients to enjoy a long-lasting fragrance, making it easier for them to focus on their breathing, and it has also received positive feedback from staff, including occupational therapists and nurses. The sense of smell can easily become dulled, and as medical professionals, we often become accustomed to the smell of medications and fail to notice it. However, I believe that "fragrance" is an essential element for creating a pleasant clinic environment.
