Simplified sample preparation
In metallography, mounting is usually the second process step after sectioning. In the embedding process, the sampled material is encased in a plastic shell to prepare the sample for the subsequent grinding and polishing steps of metallography. In many cases, mounting simplifies the preparation of the sample and leads to better results.
