Toray Industries, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "Toray"), Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "Mitsui Chemicals"), and Kumagai Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Kumagai") have jointly developed a PE monomaterial film packaging material and its manufacturing technology that is VOC-free in the film packaging material manufacturing process, reduces CO2 emissions by 80% compared to conventional products, and is also compatible with recycling, taking into consideration both people and the environment.

Toray, Mitsui Chemicals, and Kumagai have developed monomaterial film packaging materials and their manufacturing technology that do not use petroleum-based solvents in inks and adhesives, and are also compatible with recycling. In the manufacturing process of this development, Toray demonstrated a printing process using its unique offset plate IMPRIMA, which is compatible with energy-saving and heat-drying-free electron beam (EB) curing inks, while Mitsui Chemicals validated a lamination process using adhesives that do not contain petroleum-based solvents, achieving VOC-free manufacturing processes for inks and adhesives. As a result, not only is the working environment improved, but it also significantly reduces electricity consumption used for heat drying, leading to an 80% reduction in CO2 emissions during manufacturing compared to conventional products. Additionally, by combining Kumagai's packaging manufacturing processing technology, they successfully developed monomaterial film packaging made from single PE film material, which was previously difficult to achieve, making it easier to recycle compared to traditional film packaging materials.
