Nd:KGd(WO4)2 or Nd:KGW is an excellent material. It generates high output with a low laser threshold. Furthermore, the 808nm absorption band of Nd3+ in KGW, which has a FWHM of 12nm, is the same as the laser wavelength of current commercial laser diodes.
