SPACECOOL Inc. has been selected as the first startup for the "SusHi Tech Global" program, which is promoted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to support startups that create outstanding innovations. "SusHi Tech Global" is a global initiative that expands the philosophy and activities of SusHi Tech, which aims to realize a sustainable city through technology, to the world. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been promoting the concept of achieving sustainable urban and social development through technology, addressing common challenges faced by humanity, and has been communicating SusHi Tech to the world. By igniting global innovation from Tokyo, Japan, the initiative aims to realize a sustainable society, revitalize Tokyo's economy, and contribute to a richer life for its people. With this recognition, our company will work to further expand the social implementation of SPACECOOL, focusing on reducing air conditioning energy and CO₂ emissions in outdoor assets, not only in Japan but also in overseas markets.

We are pleased to announce that Masahiro Suemitsu, the Representative Director and CEO of SPACECOOL Inc., has received the prestigious "Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award" at the 25th Japan Venture Awards, hosted by the Independent Administrative Institution Small and Medium Enterprise Agency. The Japan Venture Awards is a recognition system that honors entrepreneurs of high-aspiration startups engaged in innovative businesses with significant growth potential and those contributing to solving social issues. At the award ceremony held on December 18 at the Toranomon Hills Forum, nominated entrepreneurs took the stage, and the winners of each award were announced. Among various awards announced, including the Minister of Science and Technology Policy Award and the Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency Award, our Representative Director, CEO, and CTO, Suemitsu, received the highest honor, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award. During the award presentation, Toshiyuki Ochi, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, emphasized that the technology of startups will be central to achieving a strong economy and that strengthening support for deep tech startups will be one of the important initiatives moving forward.

SPACECOOL Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masahiro Suemitsu) conducted its final presentation as a finalist in the "Decarbonization Solution Pitch" hosted by the Japan Climate Leaders Partnership (JCLP), aimed at co-creating solutions to achieve the 1.5°C target, and received a special jury award. In this pitch, ten finalist companies that passed the preliminary screening presented practical and innovative solutions to tackle climate change. Our company explained the reduction effects on air conditioning energy consumption and CO2 emissions when implementing the radiative cooling material "SPACECOOL" in buildings and outdoor air conditioning units. Additionally, we introduced SPACECOOL as a promising approach that serves as both an "adaptation measure" and a "mitigation measure" against climate change, considering the ongoing discussions around Passive Cooling (cooling systems that do not rely on electricity) led by UNEP to achieve the international 1.5°C target.

The radiative cooling material "SPACECOOL" has been awarded the "2025 Energy Conservation Grand Prize" organized by the Energy Conservation Center, Japan. Additionally, our company will exhibit at "ENEX2026," which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight from January 28 (Wednesday) to January 30 (Friday), 2026. The "Energy Conservation Grand Prize" is an award system aimed at promoting awareness of decarbonization throughout Japan by recognizing outstanding products in energy conservation and CO2 reduction, as well as exemplary efforts in energy conservation and decarbonization, contributing to the establishment of an energy-saving society towards achieving carbon neutrality. Our radiative cooling material "SPACECOOL" is gaining attention as a new carbon-neutral technology that suppresses the rise in indoor and internal equipment temperatures without using any external power, by being applied to building roofs and outdoor infrastructure that are easily affected by direct sunlight, thereby contributing to the reduction of air conditioning energy. With this award as a catalyst, our company will work towards further expanding the social implementation of SPACECOOL to reduce air conditioning energy and CO2 emissions in outdoor assets, including buildings and outdoor air conditioning units.
