**Disposal of X-ray Equipment Using Beryllium** - **Physical Properties and Uses** Beryllium has a small atomic weight and low density among metallic elements, giving it a high permeability to X-rays. It is used in X-ray equipment as the window for X-ray tubes and X-ray detectors in the form of metallic beryllium. - **Treatment and Disposal Methods** Considering the risks associated with beryllium dust, our company dissolves the relevant parts and then performs neutralization and dehydration treatment (insolubilization treatment). **Isocyanate Compounds** - **Physical Properties and Characteristics** Isocyanates are compounds that contain isocyanate groups (R-N=C=O) and come in various types. They are used in many industrial products as raw materials for paints, adhesives, and polyurethanes. - **Risks** Due to their very high reactivity, isocyanates can undergo polymerization reactions with water, alcohols, amines, etc., resulting in exothermic reactions and solidification. Therefore, they require careful handling, including storage in sealed containers under refrigeration and avoiding heat, light, and moisture, or storage filled with inert gases. - **Treatment and Disposal Methods** Given the risks of reactions with other substances leading to solidification and gas generation, our company has established a dedicated treatment line for incineration to ensure safe disposal.
