**Immunoassay: About ELISA and Western Blotting** ELISA is a rapid and highly sensitive immunochemical assay designed to detect and quantify soluble biomolecules such as peptides, proteins, and antibodies. The target epitope binds to an antibody conjugated with a reporter enzyme. After binding, the enzyme facilitates a colorimetric reaction, and the results are measured with a microplate reader. Additionally, the Western blotting method (or immunoblotting) is a widely used technique for protein detection that employs antibody-based probes to obtain specific information about target proteins from complex samples. Although primarily a qualitative method, it can also be used for semi-quantitative analysis.
