Bond Elut C8 is a short-chain hydrocarbon and has weaker interactions with non-polar compounds compared to C18.
Bond Elut C8 has very similar properties to C18, but as a short-chain hydrocarbon, it has weaker interactions with non-polar compounds compared to C18. When the target compound is strongly retained by C18, C8 can effectively elute and serve as an alternative to C18. Since short-chain hydrocarbons cannot effectively mask the silica surface, the interaction strength between C8 and polar compounds is somewhat higher than that of C18. However, the interaction with polar compounds is not a prominent characteristic of C8.
