The surface defect inspection system Stripe-Finder achieves high-precision detection of tiny scratches, unevenness, and foreign objects on glossy surfaces, which are difficult to detect with conventional image processing, by shifting slit light. By capturing images while shifting the slit pattern projected from a dedicated high-brightness LCD monitor, it can detect defects on inspection targets with curved surfaces and defects on painted surfaces. ■ Inspection of glossy surfaces and light-reflecting workpieces, which is difficult in visual inspection, is possible. By shifting the slit light, it utilizes the fact that changes in brightness on the inspection workpiece differ depending on the presence of defects, allowing for high-precision detection of defects on the surface. Areas without defects show no change in reflectivity even when the slit pattern is projected, enabling the capture of images that emphasize and highlight only the defective areas.
